Your Appointment
Every appointment at our Skin Cancer Care Centre is unique. From routine mole checks to caring for patients with complex skin cancers and sun damaged skin, we like to be prepared so our staff and your doctor can give you the best possible service. You can help by being prepared too. See below for more information about your appointment.
How to book and prepare for your appointment
Your Skin Check or Spot Check appointment can be booked online via the book now button. You do not need a referral for these.
Your doctor will need information about you to be ready for your appointment. This is best provided via our secure online form and you will receive an email link to complete this prior to your appointment. If you are unable to complete this form online please arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment so this can be done in person.
Before your appointment, please:
• Do not wear makeup or thick/tinted skin creams
• We have a makeup station if needed for your convenience
• Remove nail polish
• Your hair can be tied back or loose for scalp examination
• Consider your clothing for your comfort (see our modesty FAQ)
• If you're visiting us after any outdoor work or activities try to remove any dirt, paint, etc from your skin as much as possible and change into some clean clothes.
When you arrive
When you enter SunLife Skin Cancer Care Centre, let our friendly Medical Reception team know you have arrived. If you have completed your registration online, there is nothing more to do.
You can take a seat in our waiting room where you will find seats suitable for different abilities and space for wheelchair users by the seats near to the consulting rooms. Your time is precious and we always do our best to avoid lengthy delays.
During your appointment
The most common first appointment at SunLife is a Full Body Skin Cancer Check. During this appointment, your doctor will find out about your skin cancer risk, discuss any concerns, and perform a detailed examination with a dermatoscope. This examination assesses moles, 'sun spots' and all other skin lesions, looking for any with signs of skin cancer.
